Are the women also being offered midwife care for delivery at Henry Ford? This was not mentioned in the article. Midwives are also the experts in providing low risk women care during delivery and postpartum. In addition to providing continuous support during labor, they have lower C section rates, fewer NICU admissions, and lower postpartum complications as well as promoting baby friendly practices such as breastfeeding help, rooming in and family centered care. This should be a goal if not already an option.
